German Maggini violin, c. 1920

€0.00

The fascinating model created by the Italian master Paolo Maggini has been copied by many violin makers over the centuries, admired for the beauty of its double purfling and its elegant, slender silhouette. This violin is a fine example of that style. Made in Germany in the early 20th century, the instrument stands out thanks to its rich, transparent red-brown varnish, which features light antiquing in places. Combined with the deep flame of the maple back and ribs, this gives the instrument an attractive appearance. The refined scroll, crisp purfling, and graceful f-holes demonstrate the skilled craftsmanship of the unknown maker. A small touch-up on the upper left rib—addressing an old woodworm hole—has been factored into the price. Fitted with new Thomastik Vision Titanium Solo strings, the violin produces a powerful, resonant, and clear sound.

Body length: 36.0 cm | String length: 33.0 cm

Sound characteristics: powerful, resonant, clear‍ ‍Rental price: 18 euros per month
