Violin Neuner & Hornsteiner ca. 1880

€2,000.00

A particularly beautiful, authentic, high-quality violin from the 19th century by Neuner & Hornsteiner. In the mid-19th century, the renowned Neuner & Hornsteiner workshop grew into a major exponent of the violin-making tradition in the Mittenwald region. For decades, the workshop set the standards of the Mittenwald craft. Influences from the best international violin-making schools converged here. This well-preserved violin dates from that era. The violin bearing the Neuner & Hornsteiner label was unmistakably made by an experienced craftsman. The thin reddish-orange-brown oil varnish over an amber base is typical of the Mittenwald style. Over the years, the varnish has darkened and developed a beautiful patina. The fine scroll and the one-piece top with a beautiful Hazel pattern are also very characteristic of Neuner & Hornsteiner instruments. With only a small, professionally executed repair to the scroll, this violin is in very good condition. The sound is powerful and full of character, as you would expect from Mittenwald: resonant, rich in overtones, and sweet in the higher registers.

Body length: 35.5 cm | String length: 32.8 cm Sound characteristics: character, resonant, sweet Rental price: 22 euros per month
