Beautiful, characterful German violin from Klingenthal. The unmistakable and striking features of the Hopf model are beautifully reflected in this instrument: the slightly "square" shoulders of the top, the proportions of the body, the flat arching, and the typical brown varnish over a saffron-colored base. The historical character is enhanced by the patina in the varnish and a few imperfections; minor repairs caused by woodworm, visible on the sides of the Hopf violin, among other places, which do not affect the sound or stability of the violin. The fact that the violin has a neck suggests that it was built around 1800, the transitional period to modern instruments. The sound of the violin is full of character, mature and deep with a touch of sweetness. The relatively small dimensions of the violin (body length 35.2 cm) also make it very suitable for violinists with smaller hands. Despite the minor repairs, which are included in the price, the violin is in good condition and comes with a new cannon and tuning pegs.
