This violin by Mr. Mroz was built in 2005. The spruce top has a balanced grain and widens to the sides. There is a characteristic 'hazel pattern' in the wood on the bottom right. The back consists of one part and is regularly flamed. The light edges in combination with the deep red/brown oil lacquer accentuate the elegant shapes of the violin. The violin has a big, open, balanced tone (sound clip below).

Violinmaker Krzysztof Mroz works in his own studio and has been a member of the Association of Polish Violin Makers since 1980. He builds violins after the example of Stradivarius, Guarneri del Gesu and Jean-Baptiste Guadagnini. His instruments show great craftsmanship and are known for their great tonal quality. Mroz won many medals and awards, including the 1996 first prize and gold medal in the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Makers Contest.
