Violin from the Thier-School (Vienna)

Violin from the Thier-School (Vienna)

€2,200.00

Very old violin from the Thier school (Vienna). The relatively high curvature of the blades and the Baroque style of the finely carved F-holes make the instrument very suitable for early music and ensemble playing. The good craftsmanship is reflected in the expressively carved scroll and sharp inlay. The deep red-brown oil lacquer, which has darkened over the centuries, shows a beautiful patina in various places. The violin was repaired in 1891 by Pilat Pal in Budapest. Not surprising for violins of this age, the neck is necked. The violin also has many small repairs to the crown and blades. This has been taken into account in the price. The sound of the violin is mild, brilliant and has different colors (sound clip below). The violin comes with an appraisal report from Fred Lindeman of 5000 guilders.
